Near’s Female Leaders Address Closing the Gender Pay Gap, How Women Can Get Started in Tech and More

SHARE:

At Near we believe that gender and cultural diversity matter in all spheres, and that includes working in tech.  Women have long been underrepresented in the tech industry.  Deloitte reported that despite years of trying to close the gap, in large U.S. tech companies women represented just 31.5% of the total workforce, and only 23.1% of technical roles.  Women also hold less than 30% of leadership positions in tech companies.

When it comes to addressing the underlying issues of the gender gap in tech, there are many issues to consider and directions to take.  We talked to some of the female leaders at Near around the globe to get their perspective on what it will take to close the gap, asking them questions including:

  • What would you tell women who are interested in a tech career, but nervous they can’t make the cut?
  • How have women succeeded in leadership roles during the pandemic?
  • Why is it important to empower women in their careers?
  • What did you want to be when you were a little girl?
  • How can we close the gender pay gap?

Check out what they had to say:

We also asked them how we can empower women in their tech careers:

By continuing to fight for gender parity with access to education, changing cultural norms, evolving company policies around hiring and promotions, and empowering women to advocate for themselves, we hope to see a day where all women can reach their full potential in tech careers and beyond.
